Submission Guidelines for Write House Publishing
The mission of Write House Publishing is to discover unique stories about family, elevate the writing to appeal to a broad audience, and give voice to the uplifting messages of our authors.

Please, consider submitting your story to us if it is:

A memoir that showcases a noteworthy situation, event, or perspective.
A family history story that involves an important event in history or represents an original look at a culture.

If your story fits either of those categories, send your query letter and 1-page synopsis to writehousesubmissions@gmail.com

Query letters should include:

Title, word count, intended audience, and a 2-3 sentence description of your manuscript.

The reason you believe this story stands out from already published memoirs and family history stories.

Contact information for yourself and a brief description of any background that adds a level of experience on the topic.

Plans for author-level marketing of the book.

Synopsis should include:

Brief summary of the story, similar to a back cover blurb.

A paragraph describing where and how the story begins.
A paragraph describing what happens during the middle of the story.
A paragraph describing how the story ends and what impression is left with the reader.

Manuscript submission should follow these guidelines:

1-inch margins
12-point font
Times New Roman font
Double spaced
Left aligned

Cover page with full name, address, phone number, email address, and word count

Page headers with last name, book title, and page number

Save file as .doc, .docx, .txt, or .rft

Copyright Permissions and Protection

It is the responsibility of the author to clear the use of all text and quotations under copyright, including all lengthy prose quotations and any lyrics and poems. This includes:

Complete publishing information for all quoted materials.
A copy of original sources, of any books being quoted.
Do not use published poetry or song lyrics.

Acquire permissions from sources and people named in the story, including those who have had their names changed. If a person can identify themselves from the events in your story, then you need their permission to include them in the story.

Review the FAQ of the Copyright Office at the Library of Congress for specific copyright questions. ((http://www.loc.gov/copyright/)

Our goal is to respond to each query as soon as reasonably possible. If, however, you haven’t heard from us within six weeks, you may contact us at writehousesubmisssions@gmail.com to check on the status of the submission.

Once the acquisition team reviews your query letter and synopsis, they may (1) ask for either a partial or full manuscript submission, (2) invite you to revise and resubmit, (3) reject it. If you are asked to revise and resubmit, keep in mind that this is a good development, because it means that we feel your story has potential.

Several factors are taken into consideration when deciding whether to accept a manuscript. A rejection is not an indicator that your manuscript is unworthy of publication. It only means that the manuscript is not a good fit for us, at this time.

* Please note that manuscripts with profanity, vulgarity, excessive violence, or sexually explicit/suggestive scenes will be rejected immediately.
